Former Libyan intelligence chief daughter arrested in Libya

The Libyan High Security Council has announced the arrest by the military police of the older daughter of the former Libyan intelligence chief, currently under arrest, Abdellah Essenouci at a hotel downtown Tripoli.

• An official at the council has asserted to Reuters that Al Anoud Essenouci (18) was coming from Algeria where she was dwelling along with her family, noting that she was close relative of the former president’s wife Safia.

• He went on saying that the woman entered illegally to the Libyan soil using a fake passport through a third country. The same source ahs indicated that Al Anoud was carrying an important sum of money in US dollars.

• She has used the name of Al Anoud Abdellah Mohammed declining mentioning her family name to slip through the vigilance of the security authorities, but the presidential security agents arrested her while she was trying to leave her hotel early Sunday morning.

• To recall, Abdellah Essenouci fled to a number of Sub-Saharan countries in the wake of the arrest of the former Libyan president and headed for Morocco using a Malian passport before being arrested in Mauritania and handed to the Libyan authorities.
