Former President Chadli's Son Involved in the “Panama papers”

Name of the former President Chadli Bendjedid’s son (Toufik Bendjedid) is included in Panama Papers’ scandal, accompanied by a Tunisian lawyer who run for 2014 Presidential Elections, as they owned an “Offshore” Foundation in 2007 by 60 and 40%, respectively.

Huffington Post Maghreb website published an image of the correspondence between the bank “HSBC” Switzerland Branch and the lawyer Mossak Fonseca, citing the Tunisian website “Ankyfada”, which said that Taoufik Bendjedid possessed in February 2007, an offshore company Faygate Corp, in which he has 60% of shares, while the remaining percentage of the shares (40%) along to the Tunisian lawyer Samir Abdelli.

According to the Tunisian website, the company was actually founded in October 2006, with a capital of 10.000 U.S dollars, while one of the correspondences refer to a request to omit two certificates of shares in the name of Toufik Bendjedid in February 2007 and it indicated him by the name, surname and address in the capital, and his associate Samir Abdelli. 

With this new development Toufik Bendjedid becomes the new fifth Algerian name in the “Panama Papers” scandal the Industry and Mines’ Minister, Abdessalam Bouchouareb, Farid Bedjaoui, Omar Habbour and Reda Hameche, waiting for what the rest of the correspondences will reveal in the coming days.
