The French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian urged, on Sunday, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Niger and Chad, countries directly concerned by the worrying situation in Libya, to hold an extraordinary summit devoted to this country with the active support of the international organizations and the United Nations.

The French defense Minister said in an interview with “Europe 1” radio station in Paris that the key Libyan armed factions must stop killing each other and face up instead to the terrorist organization “Daech” which is gaining  ground by leaps and bounds in various parts of Libyan territory, he underscored.

According to the French Minister, the “Daesh” terror organization’s nefarious presence Libya is fed from unabated tensions and bitter internal conflicts.

Jean-Yves Le Drian further recalled that his country joined the international efforts to fight against this terror organization, stressing that the French aircraft carrier “Charles de Gaulle” has been deployed in the west Mediterranean to take part in the ongoing air strikes against “Daesh” targets in both Iraq and Syria.

The French aircraft carrier will be operational as of Monday November 23, he specified.
