French Ambassador: “We'll not forget the sacrifices of 175.000 Algerian soldiers against Nazism”
French Ambassador to Algiers, Bernard Emié, the representative of the French President said, in his speech on the occasion of the revival of the 96th anniversary of November 11, 1918 Armistice, in Oran Dahia neighbourhood Cemetery, where victims of the First World War are buried.
“I am thankful and proud of the big role that was played by 175.000 Algerian soldiers, of whom 26.000 thousandwere killed in the courtyard of honour for the liberation of France from the grip of Nazi Germany”.
“Memories of the series of historical events, which will reach 100 years of the outbreak of the first World War,followed by the celebrations of the seventieth anniversary of the landing of Provence in which allied forcesparticipated, and the organization was in the French city of Toulon, a few months ago in the presence of Prime Minister, Abdelmalek Sellal.”
“Then Algeria celebrated the sixtieth anniversary of the outbreak of its glorious revolution. November 11, 1918remains an index of reconciliation and brotherhood, especially as it is organized and attended by SeniorRepresentatives of the allies, like the US Ambassador and United Kingdom Ambassador, and others that werean enemy of France in the past, but it turned into a friend.”
