French police will not bring Algerian man’s body back to homeland
An Algerian family living in the province of Khenchela Wednesday received an official notification from the French police about the body of their son killed in Marseille in April.
Djamal Lagha’s body was kept in a morgue in Marseille. His sons and wife wanted to bury it in Algeria. Yet, the French police told them it was impossible to transfer the body to Khenchla.
The 41-year-old man was found dead in the French city after he had been thrown from the 14th floor of a building. He had been stabbed to death.
His family called on Algerian authorities to intervene and help his old mothet to get a visa to France.
Echorouk has learnt that the case has not been closed yet although the French police arrested four men including an Algerian accused of being involved in the crime.
Djamal has a buthcher’s shop in Marseille. He was known for his sympathy with poor and needy people.
