Gaid Salah: “We Favor The Interests Of The Homeland And We Are Fully Committed To Our Constitutional Duties”

“The ANP Army knows in a timely manner how the interests of the country prevail over all other interests,” said on Wednesday the deputy defense minister and the Chief of Staff of the National People’s Army, Major General Ahmed GaId Salah.
The latter stressed that there is no greater interest above the interests of the motherland, while stating “his refusal to enter into political affairs.”
Major General Ahmed Gaid Salah continues his working visit of inspection to the 4th Military Region. On Wednesday, he was in Laghouat province where he gave a new speech with political messages. First, he reaffirmed the close links between the ANP Army and the Algerian people.
“By evoking this solid and vital link that unites the Algerian people to their Army, this link whose strength is illustrated through this emotional interaction expressed by the impulses of solidarity between the people and their Army during trials and misfortunes, we are convinced that this vital link that has never been broken, whatever the circumstances, and which will forever unite the National People’s Army with its people throughout the national territory, is a sacred bond, which draws its greatness from the particularities of the Algerian people and from the singularity of Algeria’s history and its extensive borders,” he said the day after his call for the implementation of Article 102 of the Constitution as a way to bail the country out of its current political crisis.
For Major General Gaid Salah, “There is no fear for Algeria’s present and future, with this people fully awake of the supreme interest of their country, and there is no fear for Algeria and for its future with this National People’s Army, which breathes the air of its motherland and whose heart beats for each inch of its blessed land”.
“The National People’s Army (…) shall, in due course, put the interests of the country above all other interests. And what interest would be above that of the Nation? “He went on to say that his call for the implementation of Article 102 had not yet been carried out.
For those who question the role that the ANP Army intends to play, Major General Ahmed Gaid Salah seems to provide an answer: the ANP Army will act “in accordance with (its) constitutional missions from which we will never deviate”, he underscored to this effect.
