George Leekens: “Do Not Judge Me Before The CAN 2017 Finals”
Coach of the Algerian National Football Team, George Leekens, extended his truce with the local media and analysts of television channels pleading everyone to understand him, and not to rush to judge him through a friendly match against Mauritania, which he thinks it is only a practical match and an exam for some players.
Leekens was cunning in his choices for the first friendly match against Mauritania team that was played under the eyes of the public, as competitors of the national team, who are following the news of the national selection and are interested in the basic census of Desert Warriors in order to examine the strengths and weaknesses of the Algerian team, especially Zimbabwe team which will be playing against an anonymous team for it, which will be an advantage for the national team, that is keen on not repeating the scenario of the “CAN 2004” in Tunisia, where it was defeated by Algerian team in the first round of this competition.
Belgian coach rips off everyone and was able to avoid criticism of journalists and arrows of analysts of television studios who monitor every small and big detail of the national team, and will not tolerate him in the case of discovering the gaps, and this by reducing the value of this match, what makes him call upon all actors in the media to turn a blind eye to the performance of Tider’s teammates, especially in the first phase of the game, as he did neither reveal its method nor the starting line-up that will play in the African Cup matches. He said in the same context: “Do not rush to judge me and you will see my touch of in the African Nations Cup finals”.
In a related development, Leekens is living recently a hard psychological pressure because of fears from media and public opinion reactions in case of failure, prompting him to call for a truce from the media and postpone judging him, until after the Zimbabwe match, at least, saying that this match will show his personal touch.
