Government sets up a National Political Committee to Control the Presidential Elections
Members of the National Political Committee to control the presidential elections fear this body would lose control when subjected to money offers or temptations, as in the 2007 legislation, when its members asked for 80.000 dinars per day, which would harm, according to them, the nature of their mission and credibility with voters.

Representative of the Labour party, Ramdane Tazibet, expressed his anger because the independent candidate Abdelaziz Boutezflika, is represented by more than two members, including representatives from the presidential coalition and Head of the Defence Committee at the national council, General Mostafa Chelouf.

Mr. Tazibet said he will discuss his protest with the Head of the National Political Committee for Control the Elections, Mohamed Takia, as well as moving at the level of the Labour Party to rectify the situation.

He also wondered about the way some candidates, who failed to collect signatures, joined the committee and represented the independent candidate Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

The NPCCE includes 25 members from different political parties, as well as representatives of the candidates for the upcoming presidential elections. It held its first meeting Saturday evening to study the internal structure according to the presidential decree issued on last February 7.
