Ministry of Health, Population and Hospital Reform behest of Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal decided to lift the number of medical mission that is accompanying the pilgrims to 120 doctors, and allocate eight tons of drugs to counter the risk of corona virus transmission against Algerians during their travel to the Holy sites “Mecca”, with preparing an exceptional plan to control the movement of expatriates from Saudi Arabia in particular.

Health Minister, Abdelmalek Boudiaf, told Echorouk on Sunday; “Following the instructions of the Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal we decided to raise the number of medical mission which accompany the pilgrims to 120 doctors, i.e we added 40 new doctors in addition to the 80 doctors that will accompany pilgrims to the holy places.”
“In addition to raising the number of Medical Mission, eight tons of medicines and vaccines were allocated, so as not expose Algerian pilgrims to the risk of corona virus, and to prevent its transmission to Algeria through launching an exceptional plan to control the movement of expatriates from Saudi Arabia, particularly, in light of the high number of cases that were recorded in the holy sites. I gave strict instructions to our services to tighten control on the level of the border and in various airports across the country to curb the disease, as these places are supported with medical staff that includes specialists for the diagnosis of suspected cases, as well as brochures that explain to the pilgrims the way to prevent infection.”
“Pasteur Institute and with all its human and material potential, tracks the development of the virus, especially after the case of two people who were infected with corona virus was diagnosed and treated quickly.”
In response to a question about whether the state will reduce the number of people traveling to Mecca to perform Umra or Hadj of this year, in order to avoid the spread of the corona virus, Boudiaf ruled out launching such a move, saying that prevention remains the best way to avoid infection with the virus, calling upon all pilgrims to be careful and follow the advice of the Medical Mission, in order to avoid being infected with Corona virus.
