Human Rights League: France is Responsible for Hindering the Western Sahara Issue

Algerian Human Rights League accused France of blocking the issue of the Western Sahara, because it is the main supporter of Morocco in the Western Sahara conflict, and the most important external force that supports the Moroccan occupation.

Human Rights League explained, in a statement, on Friday, that Morocco, since the beginning of the conflict, received political, military and diplomatic support by most of the successive French governments, and called for the expansion of the United Nation’s Missions, and this on the eve of the upcoming visit of the UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, that is expected, here on Saturday, to the Sahrawi refugee camps in Tindouf, and which comes at a time when developments of the Saharawi cause noticed a real blockage due to the Moroccan obstructions that reject every effort to enforce the UN Security Council, calling for the Saharawi people’s self-determination.

AHRL asked Morocco to free the Sahrawi human rights activists and politicians who are in its prisons, including “Akdim Ibzik” group, especially as the Moroccan authorities deprive prisoners of basic human rights, like the treatment, family visits and a fair trial.

“We are astonished of the silence of the international community on the manipulation of the Moroccan state, and its violation of international legitimacy.”
