Hundreds of outraged Algerian citizens crossed Tunisian borders

Some 300 Algerian citizens of the small border town of “Essafssaf” in the region of Tebessa (far East Algeria) crossed the Tunisian borders to express their anger following the killing of one of the inhabitants by a border guard. Some 300 Algerian citizens of the small border town of “Essafssaf” in the region of Tebessa (far East Algeria) crossed the Tunisian borders to express their anger following the killing of one of the inhabitants by a border guard. In doing so, the outraged population wanted to launch a strong signal to the Algerian authorities in the aftermath of the tragic event resulting in the death of a young man. Some inhabitants of this small locality along with the relatives of the victim, reacted instantaneously two hours later and expressed their exasperation by leaving the Algerian soil to cross to the neighboring side. According to the inhabitants’ version of the facts, the young man was driving his car nearby the borders’ strip, while he was ordered to stop, but this one didn’t obey and ran away leaving his car on spot. The young man was first shot in the leg by the border guard to receive deadly shot in the belly while he was on the ground. He was evacuated to the hospital soon after. This event echoes the one that occurred two weeks ago in the same town, where another young man was targeted by a border guard causing several injuries to him. The man is still under medical care at the hospital.
