Hunger Striking Islamic Jihad Senior Official in Imminent Death, Cries His Wife

Randa Adnan said her Palestinian prisoner husband, who has been on a two month long hunger strike, has yet lost 50 kg and his death is imminent.

Mme Randa Adnan told Farida Lakehel of Echorouk, in a phone call, that when she visited Sunday her prisoner husband – Sheikh Khader Adnan, 33, a senior official at the Palestinian Islamic Jihad – she noticed that he looked very skinny and could not even move, due to the 66 day strike he has been on.

She specified that despite the pain he is subject to, he still confident of victory, as his spirit level is very high and he is not intending to stop his unlimited strike, adding that she did not demand him to stop his strike because she already knows that he is a man who bears the principles of all Palestinians.

Mme Adnan further indicated that her husband’s life is at stake, and it is getting worse day after day, saying medical tests suggest weakness of his heart muscle, and bones corrosion. 

The resistant Palestinian prisoner launched an unlimited strike to protest mistreatment, humiliation and torture he has been subjected to by Israeli occupation forces during arrest and questioning, Mme Adnan said.

Adnan is serving four months of an “administrative detention” sentence, under which an Israeli military judge can imprison Palestinians for six-month periods without charge, which is the case of thousand prisoners in the Zionist occupation detention camps.
