Ibrahim Al-Jaâfari: “Iraq’s and Algeria’s stances are identical in counter-terrorism struggle”
Iraq’s foreign affairs minister, Ibrahim Al-Jaâfari said that the positions of Algeria and Iraq are close to “the extent of matching” with regard to the sustained fight against the terrorism scourge, but acknowledged that there’s a delay in the promotion of bilateral relations between the two countries.
The Iraqi official said in a statement to the press, on Wednesday upon his arrival in Algeria on a working visit, that the positions of Algeria and Iraq within the Arab League and even in the UN Security Council are very close concerning the fight against terrorism, while referring to the common prospects for possible investment opportunities in both countries.
Noting that cooperation between the two countries has been delayed for exceptional reasons imposed on Iraq, Mr Al-Jaâfari said that his visit to Algeria at the invitation of Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs and international cooperation, Ramtane Lamamra, would pave the way for the establishment of potent relations between the two brotherly countries and will be a turning point in the consolidation of these relations in all fields of endeavour.
