Investigations into corrupt money to cut off the path for dubious candidates.

Political parties have begun preparing for the mid-term elections for the Council of the Nation, the date of which has not yet been determined, by issuing internal instructions to their leaders in the provinces, awaiting the call of the electoral body by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

The instructions include a call for local leaders to send the names of those wishing to run for office and to conduct investigations into them, with the aim of avoiding any involvement in suspicious financial matters and corruption, in preparation for these electoral contests.

In this context, the National Democratic Rally launched a series of regular meetings with the party’s secretaries in the provinces, aiming to agree on a unified work program for these elections, as the party, according to its leadership, relies on achieving positive results or at least maintaining its base within the upper chamber of parliament.

According to “Echorouk” sources, the party leadership has issued internal instructions to its leaders in the provinces, urging them to send the names of those wishing to run for election, with an emphasis on the necessity of verifying their eligibility and ensuring they are not involved in corruption cases or suspected of illicit financing.

The instructions underscored the importance of avoiding unethical behaviors that have long plagued this type of election, especially regarding the use of money to buy votes.

The leadership of the coalition also granted the freedom to choose between appointment or election in selecting its representatives, emphasizing the importance of candidates having the consensus of the party’s activists to ensure satisfactory results.

Sources indicated that the National Democratic Rally sees this election as an opportunity to assert its presence in the political arena, especially in light of the intense competition with other parties, foremost among them the National Liberation Front, which has also begun preparations for this election, awaiting the president’s call for the electoral body, as stipulated in Article 219 of the organic electoral law.

In the same context, the Secretary-General of the National Liberation Front Party, Abdel Karim Ben Mbarek, issued an internal directive to the party’s cadres, emphasizing the necessity of maintaining the party’s leadership as the first political force in the country.

Ben Mbarek called on the heads of the transitional committees in the states to prioritize the party’s interests over personal ones, focusing on rebuilding the party on legal and legitimate foundations away from transitional phases, ensuring optimal preparation for upcoming entitlements. He also emphasized the necessity of fostering a spirit of solidarity among the fighters and adopting democratic practice as a working method and a permanent approach.

For its part, the Socialist Forces Front (FFS) has begun preparing for this electoral date, as it is one of the parties that maintains its representation in the upper house of parliament. The Front has begun mobilizing within the provinces with the aim of achieving positive results.
The national secretary of the party, Youcef Auchiche, had previously called on the authorities to organize early local and legislative elections, emphasizing the importance of these elections in strengthening democratic practice.
