Lamamra: military solution will not work in Libya

Algeria’s foreign minister Ramtane Lamamra Thursday said his country « will not be part of a military adventure in Libya or any other nation. » He stressed the necessity of a peaceful solution for the Libyan crisis.

“No one can have a chance to push Algeria to a military adventure in Libya or any other nation. Algiers focuses on peaceful solutions for the Libyan crisis in all its consultations,” said Lamamra.

“Military adventures can not solve this problem either the sooner or the later. Any other military intervention in Libya would cause more disaster and human losses,” he added.

He also said that Algeria respects Libya’s right to build the system it judges good for its people. The international community’s role and responsibility is to find a peaceful and consensual solution starting from the establishment of the long awaited national consensus government.
