Law on National Assets meant to ensure Pieds-Noirs return to Algeria, says Workers’ leader
Secretary General of Workers’ party in Algeria described the Law amending the Law on National Assets as a “serious speculation and manipulation of real-estate.†According to Louisa Hanoune, the law was meant to fragment national unity and submit to the return of the Pieds-Noirs.
“My party rejects the real-estate law which constitutes a fatal blow for the national real-estate,” she said in a meeting on Friday.
She added that the law was hiding an intention to sell real-estate to foreigners but it approved cession through renewable concession contracts which last 99 years.
On the other hand, the political leader denounced the continuing privatisation policy of public companies led by investment minister Abdelhamid Temmar who said his policy created 730,000 jobs.
“Actually, it eliminated thousands of job opportunities,” said Hanoune.
She wondered why the government did not speed up concrete measures in the social aspect while the situation is affected by a price hike.
