Masked men Wednesday carried out an armed attack on French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris killing 12 people at least in the bloodiest ever action in France for 40 years at least.

The magazine’s most famous cartoonists Cabu, Tignous and Wolinski were among the dead victims along with two policemen who were in charge of ensuring the headoffice safety.

The incident seemed mysterious except some video tapes recorded by witnesses. It is said that the attack was carried out at around 11:30 a.m. (French timing).

French news agency AFP reported a witness saying: “at around 11:30 a.m., two men carrying Kalashnikovs entered Charlie Hebdo’s headoffice in Paris. Shooting took place between the attackers and security forces.”

Yet, other witnesses said the attack was carried out by 5 people.

The video tapes showed two masked men who left the crime scene carrying Kalashnikovs in a Citroen C3 black car. They were not panicked as one of them continued shooting until he killed a wounded man.

“Allah is the greatest” shouts were heard in the video.

French President François Hollande went to the crime scene and described the attack as “terrorist.”

He pled to prosecute the attackers and introduce them to justice.

Christian and Jewish associations had asked Hollande to stop provoking Muslims

All it seems that the killers know the place, the victims’ faces and names. The killed people had been threatened for years. Earlier in 2006, their magazine republished Danish cartoons which raised anger among Muslims.

The video tape which made noise

A few weeks ago, the magazine’s killed cartoonist Cabu was showed in a video tape wearing a dress which looks like Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi’s one. He called himself Abdelkader Bouchermouta and said he was unbeliever but he became a good man. He enjoyed beheading children and women and having sex.

Although French associations warned the magazine as it offended Islam, its cartoonists did not stop provoking Muslims.

The magazine was attacked by Molotov cocktails, 4 years ago

Ten years ago, cartoons offending the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) were published and was reposted by the French Magazine.  Its website was hacked in November 2011.

Four years ago, Charlie Hebdo raised controversy as it published offending cartoons of Islam. It was attacked by Molotov cocktails.

Analysts: France pays the price of its policy in the Arab world

Observers believe that the attack is a normal result of France’s policy based on “toppling regimes” which were fighting terrorism.

Director of the Arab Center of Political and Social Studies in Geneva Ryad Saidaoui told Echorouk the attack is rejected apart from its ideological and political trend.

“France and NATO changed stable Arab regimes which were fighting terrorism efficiently. Now, terrorism became a monster in Libya, Syria and Iraq after their regimes had been toppled,” he added.

Director of Africa-Asia magazine Madjed Nima said no one can stop a terrorist attack. It is difficult to track sleeping terror cells after security coordination operations with some regimes were stopped.

“France was hit when it shook nations’ stability in the Arab region. These are the results of its silly policy,” he added.
