Mecca crane collapse: Saudi billionaire and 13 suspects appear in court

A Saudi billionaire and 13 other people appeared in a court in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, accused of being involved in Mecca crane collapse, a local newspaper reported.

The suspects include a Pakistani, a Jordanian, a Canadian, a Palestinian, an Egyptian and an Emirati. 

Earlier in September 2015, a construction crane crashed next Mecca’s Grand Mosque in Saudi Arabia killing 110 people and injuring 210. Of them, two are Algerian.

Investigators questioned all the supervisors and people in charge of safety in the project.

The investigation institution believes that the accident took place because of carelessness.

According to judicial sources, the suspects are accused of negligence, causing the death of people, damaging properties and violating safety rules.
