Medelci says Syria would accept Arab League’s proposal concerning violence in this state
Algerian Foreign Affairs Minister, Mourad Medelci, said that Syria reached an agreement with an Arab League committee on a proposal to end violence in the country.The plan calls for the withdrawal of troops and tanks from cities and towns, release of prisoners held since unrest began in mid-March, deployment of league monitors and dialogue between the government and opposition.Qatari prime minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim al-Thani, said Syrian president Bashar al-Assad must also implement serious reforms.Earlier in the day and in a response to an Arab League meeting in Cairo, Assad said he was willing to talk to the opposition. “We will co-operate with all political powers, both those who had existed before the crisis and those who arose during it. We believe interacting with these powers is extremely important.â€
