Ministers to examine week-end change in Algeria
Algerian work minister Tayeb Louh is expected to make a presentation on the week-end in a cabinet meeting on Monday, a governmental source told Echrorouk.

“The minister will present examples on the week-end in 13 Arab countries. Of them, five countries have Friday and Saturday are the weekend like Algeria and three other countries where Saturday and Sunday are the week-end like Morocco, Tunisia and Lebanon,” said the same source.

Each minister is expected to present his view on the feasibility of the proposal on his sector.
-
President Abdelaziz Bouteflika will chair a cabinet meeting on Tuesday to deal with same topic and the complementary finance law.

Changing the week-end has been a controversial issue in Algeria since India’s Mettal Steel changed its week-end without consulting the official authorities.

In 1976, Algerian President Houari Boumediene changed the week-end from Saturday and Sunday to Thursday and Friday.
