National Gendarmerie Recruits Holders of Middle School, Vocational Training Diplomas
The National Gendarmerie Command has decided to open recruitment to youth wishing to join its ranks, within the categories of non-commissioned officers and contracted sergeants.
This year, exceptionally, the recruitment requirement has been lowered to a middle school diploma, with priority given to holders of vocational training and education certificates.
In detail, the regional groups of the National Gendarmerie, nationwide, under the slogan “The People’s National Army: Honour, Commitment, and Future,” have begun receiving recruitment applications for the ranks of non-commissioned officers and contract sergeants. Taking advantage of the extension of exceptional authorisation to lower the required educational level for recruitment in this category, candidates who have completed the fourth year of middle school are eligible, with priority given to holders of vocational training and education certificates. The National Gendarmerie Command confirmed that the extension of the exceptional authorisation is valid for one academic year only, 2026-2027.
Regarding the conditions set by the National Gendarmerie for this recruitment, the leadership has stipulated that those wishing to join its ranks must hold Algerian citizenship, be in good physical condition, be single, and meet the recruitment requirements. Height must be at least 1.70 meters, and the age requirement for those wishing to participate is between 18 and 22 years old as of December 31, 2026. The educational level has been lowered to the fourth year of middle school. Applicants must submit the initial application file upon approaching the nearest National Gendarmerie unit, which includes a birth certificate No. 12, a copy of their school certificate, a photograph, a copy of their national identity card, and a residency certificate.
Successful candidates will undergo six months of training at the National Gendarmerie training centres in Ain M’lila (Oum El Bouaghi), Touggourt (Ouargla), Jijel, and Djennine Bourezg (Naâma).
The recruitment announced by the National Gendarmerie Command each time will enhance the multiplication of the agency’s human capabilities, as it will be distributed across all units spread throughout the country, which will contribute to ensuring the security and safety of people and property in defense missions and combating various crimes, including cross-border crimes, especially against criminal networks active in smuggling and trafficking of drugs, hallucinogens, as well as weapons, human trafficking, and the influx of illegal immigrants into Algeria, coinciding with the record rise in cyber and information crimes during recent years.
