New Lebanese Government Counts On Algeria for Outside Overture
The Ambassador of the State of Lebanon, His Excellency, Mr. Ghassan Mouallem said in a statement to “Echorouk” that the newly-established Government of Lebanon led by President Michel Aoun, has a large convergence of views on various issues and areas with its Algerian counterpart, while stressing his country’s will to give a solid impetus to the wheel of bilateral cooperation in several sectors of activity.
He indicated, in this respect, that Lebanon is ready to sign a string of agreements on 14 joint projects pertaining to the fields of trading as well as economic and services and others, as part of ongoing efforts to further enhance the level of relations between the two brotherly countries.
The Ambassador stated on the sidelines of the International Exhibition of Tourism and hostelry, held in the city of Oran (western Algeria) in response to a question about the possibility for new Lebanese government members to visit Algeria that Lebanon, as is known, had remained for more than two and a half years without a leadership, as it remained with a vacant presidency until the recent appointment of Mr. Michel Aoun as President, and therefore the latter is set to start again visits abroad to strengthen foreign relations, notably with Algeria, which remains, he said, a brotherly country, and with whom Lebanon shares manifold common denominators especially in terms of climate and the nature of life.
He added that the members of the Lebanese community settled in Algeria are living in complete safety as evidenced by the presence of more than eight thousand Lebanese residents across several major Algerian cities such as Oran, Algiers and Annaba and who are now engaged in various fruitful activities, thus contributing to the steady development of the country.
He finally called on the Algerian citizens with on focus potential tourists not to waver to visit Lebanon to enjoy the tremendous tourism assets possessed by his country.
