The Stellantis Group has officially incorporated five new locally sourced components into its Fiat Algeria vehicles at its Tafraoui plant in Oran (western Algeria), both for the factory and the after-sales network.

This move is part of an effort to increase local integration through subcontracting agreements with Algerian partners, which will raise the local content of the Italian brand’s vehicles to 30% starting this year.

In this context, a statement issued by Fiat Algeria on Saturday, a copy of which was received by Echourouk, indicated that, as part of Fiat Algeria’s participation in the first edition of the “Mechanica Algeria” fair, held from February 10 to 12 at the Oran Convention Centre, five new partnership contracts were signed within the framework of local subcontracting.

The first contract concerns components destined for the Fiat plant in Tafraoui (western Algeria), involving the shaping of vehicle body panels for the plant, marking a first in the history of the Algerian automotive industry.

The other four subcontracting agreements signed by the Italian brand concern components and materials destined for its national after-sales network in Algeria. These include roof racks for the Doblo, as well as coolants, lubricants, and batteries.

The new suppliers who have entered into local handling partnership agreements with Fiat Algeria are EURL BOKS, a sole proprietorship and limited liability company, which, according to the statement, represents a milestone in the Algerian automotive industry and completes the vehicle production value chain.

Regarding the four suppliers for the aftermarket network, they are Accessoires Mobile, supplying the Fiat plant with roof racks for the Doblo; Nordine Automotiv for coolants; Fabcom for batteries; and SNC IK OIL for lubricants.

The statement from Stellantis noted that, through its participation in the Mechanica Algeria trade fair and the new contracts signed, Fiat Algeria reaffirms its commitment to developing a robust local industrial base. This base aims to cover more than 30% of the content of vehicles produced in Tafraoui starting this year (2026), thus contributing to the emergence of a comprehensive automotive manufacturing ecosystem in Algeria.

Fiat Algeria emphasised that its industrial expertise was showcased during its participation in the Mechanica Algeria trade fair, through an exhibition of parts and components developed in collaboration with 13 suppliers for the Tafraoui plant and another 13 suppliers for parts destined for the Algerian aftermarket network. This clearly reflects the rise of a fully integrated local automotive ecosystem.

Raoui Beji, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fiat El Djazair, affirmed that “participating in the Mechanica fair embodies our full commitment to local integration. Through the development of the Tafraoui facility and the expansion of our network of partners, we aim to build a sustainable industrial base capable of keeping pace with the increasing production of Algerian automobiles.”

According to a statement from the Italian brand, the fair also featured the presentation of iconic vehicles produced in Tafraoui, including a newly manufactured body in the new welding and painting workshops, along with the Fiat Grande Panda, which is set to be launched soon.
