Orders of maximum speed towards expanding electronic payment

The Minister of Finance, Mr. Laaziz Faid, issued strict instructions to bank managers to generalize electronic payment in the near future, as he ordered, in a closed meeting with bank officials at the beginning of this July, the necessity of reducing cash transactions between citizens, as well as economic dealers and institutions, and replacing them with electronic transactions, while providing all the necessary capabilities for this.
The instructions included, “Modernizing the monetary infrastructure, developing payment technologies, digitizing the flow of funds, and upgrading the financial culture related to electronic payment,” while setting up a special program to adhere to the instructions of the President of the Republic in the Council of Ministers weeks ago when he ordered the development of electronic banking payment services, as the Minister ordered the need to quickly replace Maximum cash financial transactions through electronic transactions.
Informed sources reported to  Echorouk said that the Minister of Finance explained to bank managers that the national strategy for modernizing payment revolves around five main axes, which are adopting a regulatory framework related to electronic payment, modernizing the monetary infrastructure, developing modern payment technologies, as well as developing the digitization of the payment flow, in addition to… Upgrading the financial culture related to electronic payment, which are the axes that will make most payments and withdrawals carried out automatically through digitization.
The Minister also highlighted  the importance of the legal framework that guarantees safe transactions and enhances the protection of economic operators, that is, the necessity of providing oversight mechanisms that guarantee the integrity and credibility of the financial system, while at the same time ensuring the security and confidentiality of financial transactions, as our sources add.
The Minister stressed the need to raise the pace of completion of all projects under implementation, and the matter relates to electronic payment, taking into account the specified deadlines. In this context, he also listened to the presentations made by bank representatives and gave his directions to each bank separately, focusing on the need to educate citizens and sensitize them to the importance of this digital transformation and explain Concepts and mechanisms related to it, to increase the rate of demand for electronic payments instead of cash transactions.
“Echorouk” sources revealed that the Minister of Finance asked bank officials to present the results of electronic payments, and what has been achieved in this area at the level of each bank, in implementation of the commitments of the President of the Republic related to reforming and modernizing the banking sector, in the presence of officials from the automated cash group “G-Monitec” and “Satim”, where the proceeds of electronic payment since the beginning of the year until last April 30 indicate the achievement of 1,301 billion centimes of online payment operations for water and electricity bills, services, the electronic network, purchases, transportation, insurance, administrative services, sale of goods, and sports and entertainment activities, with a count of the presence of 510 engaged web merchants. In the interbank electronic payment system, since the launch of online payment, it has resulted in about 84 million transactions.
Regarding the ATM withdrawal activity, 3883 were recorded as a total number of operating interbank ATMs, with a fair withdrawal of 117 thousand billion centimes achieved within 4 months.
On the other hand, with regard to electronic payment activity through multilateral payment stations, it had reached 1,368 billion centimes by the end of last April, with a total number of stations equivalent to 57,428 stations.
