A meeting will be held next January for the liberation of the initial drafting of the new draft Labor Law, Labor, Employment and Social Security Minister, Mohamed Elghazi, told Algeria Radio.
“Abolition of Article 87 bis of the Labor Law is irreversible, and will remain intact, as over 1.450.000 workers of the public sector who have low-income will benefit from it. There are no consequences on Algeria’s budget for the year 2015 due to the decline of oil prices in the international market.”
“New draft Labor Law does not prejudice the achievements of the Algerian worker, but came to improve the provisions of the labor law that is in force. It will contain provisions to fight against child labor and sexual harassment in vocational centers, and anti-parallel labor that adversely affects the national economy, and failure to declare workers as well. New text was distributed to the relevant social partners in order to discuss and enrich it, and present suggestions.”
“Abolition of Article 87 bis of the Labor Code came as an irreversible decision by President of the Republic, and will remain in place. Over 1.450.000 workers from the public sector will benefit from this procedure. Executive Decree Draft will be signed by the Prime Minister to abolish Article 87 bis of the law, and this will allow to redefine the concept of national minimum guaranteed wage in the regulatory framework. A work committee was created to study the issue of the wage increases for low-income workers.”
