Palestinian authorities arrest man who burnt Algeria’s flag in Gaza

The Palestinian interior ministry Monday announced it arrested Mahmoud Baroud who posted a video showing himself setting fire on an Algerian flag.

“This act is a childish and irresponsible behaviour. It can not affect strategic relation between the two peoples,” Eyad Albozm, a spokesman for the ministry told journalists.

“The interior ministry will not allow anyone to hit any State’s soveriagnity symbols including sister the Arab Republic of Algeria. Our people respect it for its positions in support of our Palestinian cause,” he added.

Many Palestinians told Echorouk Baroud’s behaviour is an individual act and deserves punishment.

Earlier, Sami Abu Zahri, a spokesman for Hamas movement said the man was not living in Gaza and posted the video from Malaysia.
