-The discussion was frank and rich, solidifying the state institutions’ approach to dialogue and consultation.

Political parties, on Saturday evening, praised the outcomes of the National Symposium on the draft technical amendment to the Constitution and the organic law related to the electoral system.

Prominent leaders of the participating parties highlighted that the symposium, hosted at the Palace of Nations in the capital, would solidify the approach of dialogue and consultation and strengthen the democratic process.

In this regard, the Secretary-General of the National Liberation Front, Mr. Abdelkrim Benmabrouk, considered that “the symposium was characterized by frankness, embodying the keenness of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to establish a culture of continuous dialogue and consultation and enhance political partnership.”

Mr. Benmabrouk explained that his party presented “several proposals that take into account the requirements of the next phase,” praising “the spirit of responsibility shown by the various political formations participating in the symposium.”

In turn, the Secretary-General of the National Democratic Rally party, Mr. Moundhir Boudène, commended “the courage of state institutions in opening the door to dialogue.”

He linked this to “addressing the shortcomings and observations that emerged during the application of the 2020 Constitution,” highlighting that the discussion between public authorities and parties was “rich.”

He pointed out that his party listened carefully to the proposals for the technical amendment to the Constitution and the electoral law, describing them as “logical.”

For its part, the National Building Movement affirmed that the proposals for the “technical amendments to the Constitution” project fall within a realistic vision for safeguarding the Constitution and addressing some procedural issues that ensure the smooth functioning and continuity of state institutions, without prejudice to the major issues and fundamental principles stipulated in Article 221 of the Constitution.

In a statement, the movement reiterated its adhesion to and pride in this Constitution, which enshrines rights and freedoms and strengthens democratic practice, considering that the symposium was part of the specific dialogue program that the President of the Republic renewed his commitment to in his speech before Parliament, convened in both its chambers.

This is the biggest practical response to the media outlets that are currently trying to distort Algeria’s image by questioning its will to adhere to the democratic choice, which was enshrined in the “Founding Statement of November 1st 1954” by describing the Algerian state as a “social democratic state.”

On his part, the head of the Movement for the Society of Peace, Mr. Abdelali Hassani Cherif, considered the symposium an opportunity for “moving towards deep political reform.”

He envisioned that this reform contributes to strengthening stability and serves the interests of the nation in this sensitive period the country is going through.

In the same vein, the First National Secretary of the Socialist Forces Front party, Mr. Youcef Aouchiche, reviewed the most important proposals of his formation, focusing on the organic law related to the electoral system, stating that the proposals aim to “reform the governance of the electoral system.”

In turn, the head of the Future (Moustakbel)  Front, Mr. Fateh Boutbika, considered the meeting to embody “the reforms undertaken by the President of the Republic,” adding that “the step embodies the President’s commitment to involving political parties in drafting laws related to political life.”

Mr. Boutbika  underscored that the proposed points are “important and do not affect the essence of the Constitution.”

For his part, the head of the New Algeria Front, Mr. Djamel Benabdeslam, praised the outcomes, considering them to “establish traditions of partnership between parties and authorities.”

Mr. Benabdeslam believed that the amendments presented regarding the two projects are “timely and necessary.”
