Restless race to divide Libya’s south into three states

A serious American plan will be carried out by two countries from the Gulf to divide southern Libya into small states through secret talks and meetings, Echorouk has learnt.

The two countries compete to host some elements from Touareg to support the idea of separation from Libya and establish ethnic states.

According to the same source, an important Libyan delegation led by famous personalities is in a country in the Gulf. They are accompanied by figures from Mali and Niger as well as officers and civil society activists from Touareg.

The secret meetings triggered a big crisis between the US and France as Paris felt that it is excluded from Libya’s agenda. Because of that, French security forces invited its partisans in Libya to meet in a neighboring country to foil the division plan.

The plan aims at dividing the Libyan south into three states. It is supported by two countries from the Gulf.

This comes as the south region experiences tension due to weapons trade and terror hideouts.
