Riyad Mahrez: “I Want To Win UEFA Cup”
Algerian international football player Riyad Mahrez has expressed his desire to win the UEFA Champions League with his club of Manchester City.
“The European Champions League trophy is an extraordinary feat,” said Riyad Mahrez, adding “I’ve always wanted to taste the sweetness of this Cup.”
“If we don’t win the Champions League cup this season, I hope we will snatch the crown in the next edition,” the Algerian international said in comments carried by the British daily “The Daily Mail” on Sunday.
“We have first to overcome the Tottenham hurdle in the quarter-finals. This season we can win the Champions League and retain the championship title of England, or we can lose everything.”
Mahrez concluded by saying that he has a beautiful memory of the Champions League competition, especially the time of FC Barcelona’s brilliance, in a hint of his admiration for the “Paloograna”, which he wished to represent the colors in a recent past.
Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur will play this evening in the Champions League quarter-finals. The second-leg fixture is to take place on 17 April.
The talented Algerian international has already reached the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals with Leicester City in the 2016-2017 season.
The 2016-2017 Champions League semi-final was the best result achieved by Manchester City in this high-profile continental competition for clubs.
