Russia PM Dmitry Medvedev To Visit Algeria soon
Russian Prime Minister, Dmitry Medvedev, will soon visit Algeria before the end of the year, Algerian ambassador to Moscow, Ismail Allaoui, told Russia Today channel, on Saturday.
“Algeria’s action in the Libyan file is contrary to what other countries are doing. Algeria does not seek to export its international agenda”.
“Relationships between Algeria and Russia are very strong. There are continuous consultation and coordination within the framework of the strategic dialogue. A meeting was held here in Moscow, and we are working to prepare for the visit, which will lead the Russian Prime Minister, Dmitry Medvedev, to Algeria, and it will most likely take place before the end of the year, what is important is that the consultation between the two countries is strong and very strong”.
Algeria and Russia have strong strategic relationships, and Moscow is the first supplier of arms to Algeria.
Russian ambassador to Algeria, Alexander Zolotov, told Echorouk months ago that his country intends to establish a nuclear plant in Algeria, with a continued military cooperation and arms sale unconditionally.
Russia offered, at the Algiers International Fair, this month, to supply spare parts to the Renault-Oran plant, a proposal that was rejected by the former Prime Minister, Abdelmalek Sallal, but the proposal is likely to be reintroduced to the new government that is led by Abdelmadjid Tabboun.
Ambassador Ismail Allaoui stopped the support that Algeria received from Russia and before it the Soviet Union,
“Russia had strong and varied relationships with African countries, including Algeria. Many of the Algerian officials were formed in the Soviet Union, and hundreds of Russian and Soviet technicians and specialists worked in Algeria and African countries”.
As for the Algerian role in Libya, Allaoui said: “We are among the parties that mediate between the brothers without excluding anyone. Regardless of their political, intellectual and ideological orientations. we are mediating and mobilizing the international community and regional and other African organizations to contribute to efforts to resolve the Libyan crisis. Unlike other parties, we do not export its internal agenda”.
Regarding the new government that is led by, Abdelmadjid Tebboun, Algeria’s ambassador to Russia said; “The biggest challenge after the restoration of security and stability is the economic challenge and the abandonment of dependence on oil and gas”.
“Today, the economy is unusually and unacceptably linked to oil. The economic problems are caused by oil prices collapse, which will generate social problems”.
The ambassador did not miss the opportunity to praise Tebboun, saying that he is known for being professional because he worked as a minister for local communities, housing and a governor as well”.
