A senior “Le Figaro” newspaper reporter said that Russian intelligence services had informed their French counterparts that they strongly oppose any French interference in the choice of the new Algerian regime.
“The services of Russian intelligence have sent a message to their French counterparts stressing that they don’t want a French intervention in the choice of the new Algerian regime,” said George Malbrino, in a tweet on Twitter, citing an unnamed diplomat.
In a comment on the case, former French intelligence officer Alain Roudy told France-based “Atlantico” media outlet that he believes the information is misleading, especially since it is well known that diplomats are not familiar with the messages intelligence services collect or exchange among themselves, and therefore such exchanges are strictly confidential.
