Arab and Muslim countries will fast this year on the same day, a scenario that rarely repeated, according to the Bozedjani Scientific Astronomical Association, which said the first day of Ramadan in Algeria and other countries will be on Saturday, May 27, 2017.

The association said, in a statement, that the astronomical conjunction occurs between the sun and the moon on Thursday, 29 of Sha’aban 1438, corresponding to May, 25, 2017, at 7:44 pm (19:44) UTC (Algeria +1 H), the day that is dedicated to investigate the crescent of Ramadan in some Arab and Islamic countries, such as Saudi Arabia And the Gulf states, Egypt and Jordan, for example, where the sun will set “inchallah” at Mecca at 18:58 local time, while the moon will set west by 20 minutes before it, meaning that the vision will be impossible that day in the Arabian Peninsula and all the countries of the world, which will make Friday, May 26, day that will complete the month of Sha’baan 1438.

In Algeria, Friday, May 26, which is Sha’ban, 29 in Hijri, will be considered as the day to begin Ramadan, according to Religious Affairs Minister, Mohamed Aissa, as the sun will set on Friday from Medea, Blida and Algiers at about 19:59 pm in Algeria local time, while the moon set after it by about 48 minutes, I.e at 20:47 pm, and its elongation is about 11 degrees south of the sunset point on that day and at about 7 degrees above the horizon, with a slight difference in coordinates from one place to another.

According to the association, these coordinates and the duration of the capacitor are sufficient to distinguish and see the arc of the crescent above the horizon across the country, while the vision will be easily visible to the naked eye in the south of the country.

In the rest of the world and by adopting Yallop’s method, the vision will be possible and easy with the naked eye in the continents of America, Central and South Africa as well. In the Arab and Islamic countries such as Tunisia, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Kuwait and the rest of the Gulf countries and southern Europe, vision will also be possible with the naked eye in the case of sunrise, while observations of the telescopes are required in each of South Asian countries such as India, Malaysia and Oceania.
