Smartphones In Algeria Are The Most Expensive In North Africa
A study of the online selling and e-commerce by “JUMIA” shows that the average price of a mobile phone that is marketed in this network is considered the most expensive in North Africa (Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt), as the price settled in 2016 in the range of 18.900 DZD in 2016, after it was 23.500 DZD in 2015.
The announcement was made in the context of the study that was carried out in Algeria and that was called the White Paper and was presented, on Wednesday, at the International Convention Center in Algiers.
Its results indicate that the average price of the phone that is marketed in Algeria remains the most expensive among the countries of the region, since the price in Morocco is estimated at 13.200 DZD, Tunisia 13.300 DZD and in Egypt 13.700 DZD.
Same study shows that the price of smartphones in Algeria and the rest of the African continent continues to decline, as the average price of the smart phone dropped below the symbolic ceiling of $ 100 (11.000 DZD).
“E-commerce or online selling is generally applied only in major cities, especially in the capital as one of four sales of phones on this floor is for a citizen who are living in the capital, followed by other cities, such as Oran, Tlemcen, Bejaia, Tizi Ouzou and Constantine.
According to the founder of the ground “JUMIA” Sacha Poignonnec, the online marketing is going to revolutionize the prices of products that will be available to the customer at a much lower price than marketed in traditional shops, because the link between the consumer and the product is more direct, without the interference of other channels of distribution chain and shop Logistics, etc., especially with the possibility of payment on delivery, a principle that is adopted by “JUMIA”.
