Souha Arafat to Echorouk: “I received death threats so as not to uncover Arafat murderer

In this Echorouk interview with Souha Arafat, widow of the late Palestinian President Yasser Arafat, she uncovers a number of cases that are related to her husband’s assassination, and the parties that stand behind the crime.

Souha did not hesitate to say that Israel is the “first hand” in the assassination of her husband, to put its “boyfriend” in his place to serve its interests, and she implicitly pointed to the internal complicity of Palestine to implement the crime, and promised to reveal the actors at the right time.

Souha also responded to a number of other cases that are related to the circumstances of her life in Malta, where she lived far from home Palestine, accompanied by her only daughter, Zahwa.

“Procedures of restoring what was seized from properties concern her, after her dispute with the wife of the former Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Benali, and are still going on, until the current Tunisian government will reinstate it.”

A few months separate us from the 11^th anniversary of the death of your husband President Yasser Arafat, Abou Ammar, and until now, a lot of details were written about his death, which left a puzzle, as a lot of sources said that he was poisoned, then depth investigations on the subject were open, but until now, accusations were not directed to a certain party about being behind your husband’s assassination. Do you have any news on this subject?

It is true that my husband Abou Ammar was poisoned, and this is puzzling everyone, because a lot of time passed on his death, and no one knows who or why? Because they do not want to show the truth, and I wrote several articles for a newspaper, and I told them about those who stand behind the killing of my husband, but I was threatened with death I and my daughter, and I was prevented with the newspapers from publishing what I said.

Hypothesis of suspicion in the death of your husband’s circumstances was delayed for many years, and this made the investigators before the difficulty of reaching the truth because of the decomposition of the remains. Were you suspicious about his death’s circumstances, as you are the closest person to him, in light of the sudden deterioration of his health, since the beginning?

I doubted the deteriorating situation of Abou Amar, and he realized that, but it was too late for that.

Why do you think, the French and Russian reports said that Arafat’s death was natural, unlike the Swiss report, which said that the tests that were carried out on the body, showed “a high and unexpected level of polonium. Does this contradiction confirm the hypothesis that the matter is suspicious?

Reports that were submitted by Russia and France are not the original reports, and the Swiss report showed that the polonium was placed in his food.

You talked, since two years ago, when you were hosted in a television program on an Egyptian channel, about the role which the late General, Omar Suleiman, played during the last days of Arafat’s life, and you said that he tried to mediate with Israel to get the antidote to save the life of Abou Ammar. What are the details of this story? Then was not that proof enough about the involvement of Israel in the liquidation of your husband?

Israel is the first hand in the death of Abou Ammar, because he did not serve its interests and everyone knows this, but he was killed to replace him with one of its men, as you see. And until now, he is serving Israel from all sides. He played the role of the friend in order to receive the reins of the Palestinian presidency.

Do you think that the Palestinian Authority did its duty on revealing the truth about the death of one of the historic symbols, Yasser Arafat, or whether they failed to inform the Palestinian public opinion on this subject?

Palestinian Authority did not perform its duty towards my husband, because the President Abou Mazen is the one who should be asked this?

Do you think that the days are able to detect the mask of the person you named the “X mastermind” of your husband’s crime?

I do not think the “X mastermind” still has a spirit to this extent, it is very natural to assassinate him by Abou Mazen and Israel, in order not to uncover them.

You live, until now, with your daughter Zahwa in Malta on the pension of your late husband, how are the details of your diaries away from your motherland, Palestine?

Yes I live with my daughter in Malta away from homeland, and this is very painful.

One of the exciting stories that form a rich material to the media for months ago is your relationship with the ousted Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, and much was said about the Tunisian authorities which seized sums of money that belong to your husband Arafat, after the relationships worsened with the wife of ousted Tunisian President. Did you conduct procedures with the current Tunisian authorities to restore them?

Procedures still continue until the Tunisian government will return what was seized.

Does Souha Arafat still enjoy the same prestige that she enjoyed with the friendships of the late Yasser Arafat throughout the long years of his struggle?

Yes, my relationships are still good with a large number of fans of the late martyr Abou Ammar.

Are you thinking about writing the biography of your life with the late Abou Ammar?

I do not think about writing the biography of my life that I shared with Abou Ammar, because the end was a painful shock to me.

Tell us about Yasser Arafat the freedom fighter, who has millions of fans as he is a symbol of the Palestinian resistance? Did Arafat left diaries or personal biography that can see the light to tell more about this fighter?

Yes, there is a paper that was written in his handwriting, in which he revealed that if anything would happen to him, and who is behind it, and he wrote it a few days before his death, but the right time has not yet come to reveal the truth.
