The Countdown of Assad Days, Ghalioun
Head of the Syrian National Council, Burhan Ghalioun, said the “massacre” committed in Homs highlights the fear of the “crumbling” regime of Bashar al-Assad.
The opponent Syrian leader told Echorouk’s Asia Chalabi in a phone conversation from Paris that the recent crackdown perpetuated by the Syrian army in Homs is one of a series of slaughters being perpetuated by the “Barbary” Assad regime.
“For sure, such a slaughter will speed up the departure of the regime of Assad; things have come out of the control of al-Assad, who is haunted by fear; he is bowling fire here and there; he is gradually losing control; however, trying to resist through challenging international, Arab and humanitarian laws,” Mr Burhan Ghalioun said.
“Al-Assad use of heavy weapons is useless, because the Syrian people believe in the revolution and the inevitable fall of the regime,” he added.
As for the veto of Russia against the Arab-West resolution on Syria, the Opponent said “the policy of our council is clear: We are still waiting things to happen in the Security Council; and we are continuing the revolution on the political and military levels; it is our stake,” noting “I believe things won’t go longer, and the Syrian people will survive, pending the arrival of necessary aids from a UN, Arab or European initiative. So, the Security Council will not for sure bless such a criminal regime, which is forcing the people to get armed, regardless the veto of Russia.”
