There will be no US military in Tunisia, says head of government

Tunisian head of government Habib Said said there is not any crisis between Tunis and Algiers. Sincerity is the base of relations between the two countries, he told Echorouk in an interview.

On your second visit to Algeria, what is your agenda ?

The previous visit was the first visit I had paid outside my country since I was appointed as a head of government. It was a visit to coordinate with my brother Abdelmalek Sellal. It was an opportunity to examine cooperation aspects. The second visit is part of a joint commission. Talks will be held about all the essential international and regional topics. Unique positions will be announced concerning a number of issues.

You present an optimistic speech about Algerian Tunisian relations. Yet, it is said there is a crisis between the two countries due to an accord between you and US administration.

Sincerity is the base between the two governments. Relations between Tunisia and Algeria are direct and strong.

Did US administration ask you to set up a military base ?

It may have asked the sam e thing from Algeria. It is part of international cooperation. Our position is clear. We coordinate with neighboring and friend countries. This enables us not to make anticipated decisions. Military bases establishment is a national sovereignity-related issue. Our choices and policies are clear.

You focus on security coordination between the two countries.

There is security coordination as terrorism is a phenomenon between Tunisia and Algeria. Coordination is conducted in terms of information.

Terror acts still exists in Tunisia. What did security forces achieve ?

Security forces carried out important operations which had a positive impact on Tunisian society and a negative one on terrorists.

The situation in Libya is worriying and has repercussions on Tunisia. How do you deal with it ?

What is hapenning in Libya is a domestic issue. The solution should be political. Countries should find a solution. Stability in Libya will have a positive impact on countries in the region.

The minister of relations with Parliament resigned. The justice minister zas dismissed. What is happening in your government ?

Nothing is hapenning. We are a democratic country. The head of government has all the prerogatives to reshuffle the government.

Is any other reshuffle possible ? will you remain in your position ?

Our mission is to apply the set plan for the prosperity of Tunisia. All the sacrifices are possible. Our country needs us and we will sacrify for it.

A strong relation exists between Tunisia and Algeria.
