Tibhirine monks assassination: Trevidic asks France to put pressure on Algeria
French judge Marc Trevidic in charge of investigating the Tibhirine Monks assassination case asked Paris to put pressure on the Algerian government to facilitate the mission of French investigators.
Reuters reported on Wednesday that Trevidic asked French authorities to intervene in order to enable him to take samples of the monks’ skull.
This comes as the Algerian judge in charge of the investigation refused to give the skulls to the French investigators. The latters visited Algeria between October 12th and October 19th along with Trevidic.
Speaking about the inauguration of a Renault plant in Algeria, Trevidic said it would be better if French-Algerian relations take other dimensions than cars.
“Either we continue our investigations about the seven monks’ skull autopsy or we will face big question marks until deadlines expire,” he told French newspapers.
“French authorities are the only ones who can help me in this case. Their Algerian counterparts will move and make a positive step if France puts pressure on them,” he added.
He believes that pressure is needed to solve the case.
