Algerian lawyers said French lawyer Patrick Baudouin’s remarks about the Tibhirine monks issue are provoking and motivated by political purposes.

Baudouin criticized Algeria for “confiscating evidences” about the assassination of seven French monks in the province of Medea.

“The French lawyer works under the influence of the Human Rights Council chairman in Morocco Idriss Alzimi in order to put pressure on Algeria,” former chairman of the Algerian League for Human Rights Boudjemaa Ghanchir told Echorouk on the phone.

“Bedouin wanted to give a bad image about Algeria even before the Tibhirine issue. There are political purposes planned by a Moroccan man who hates Algeria. His name is: Idriss Alzimi,” he added.

Alzimi is a close person to Morocco’s King Mohamed the Sixth.

Ghachir believes that the French lawyer should have kept silence and let judicial authorities do their job.

Higher Court lawyer Khaled Borghoul said French justice wants to find planned results. “The Tibhirine issue is sensitive and hits Algeria’s credibility. Bedouin wanted to overstate the issue and put pressure on French Justice.”

“There is a plan to hit security forces and Algeria by accusing the army of committing the crime,” he added.
