Touareg insurgents have called for Algeria's direct contribution in the current investigation into the recent killing of two Touareg leaders who were on their way to meet the armed terrorist group who abducted in early February 2 Austrian tourists as part of a mediation mission.

A Touareg rebel spokesman accused the Malian intelligence services of being behind the killing of the 2 mediators saying that Algeria’s contribution could shed light on the affair.

The Touareg insurgents, who are holding 33 Malian soldiers captive, called on the Bamako government to reduce the Malian troops’ presence in the Kidal region and urged for a full implementation  of the Algiers accords concluded between several Touareg movements and the Malian government under Algeria’s aegis.
