1 million Algerians visited Tunisia in 2008

Around one million Algerians tourists visited Tunisia in 2008 while 125,000 Tunisians spent their holidays in Algeria in the same year, according to a Tunisian governmental source.

  • “It’s something encouraging for more consolidated Algerian-Tunisian partnership in tourism sector,” said the same source.
  •  The official believes Algerian football clubs have promoted tourism in Tunisia where over 20 teams get regular trainings in Ain Drahem and Soussa.
  • Two factories of ceramics and fridges are due to start operating in Setif province (east of Algeria) in 2009 following a partnership agreement between Algeria and Tunisia.
  • Algeria is the second largest country in Africa in terms of total area. The Sahara is one of its main tourist attractions being the second largest desert in the world.
