1,100 lawsuits against bank employees in Algeria

According to judicial sources, some 1,100 employees working in public, private and even foreign banks operating here in Algeria are sued for money embezzlement, swindling, corruption and corrupt practices. Algiers takes the lead with some 600 cases.

The same sources revealed that the most of the convicts are top managers in their respective banks who took advantage of their positions as general managers and sales managers to practice their misdeeds. Among 1100 sued employees, 324 of them are committed to the cells and others served their terms, while judicial authorities pronounced sentences against 400 accordingly.

Amazingly enough, “Al Khalifa bank” is lagging behind other banks in terms of convicts despite the seriousness of this case. The liquidated bank has only 24 employees involved in the previously mentioned misdeeds, while the trade and industrial bank is leading with more than 300 cases.
