145 pupil victim of food poisoning in Bordj Bou Arreridj

145 pupils in Bordj Bou Areredj province have been urged to interrupt primary school exams, to be transferred urgently to hospital after they were victim to food poisoning.

Two hours after they ate toxic rice, meat and yogurt, 145 of 333 pupils at Abdeslam Abdellah primary school in Medjana locality, in Bordj Bou Arreridj felt sick and could not continue doing their exam after symptoms of food poisoning appeared on them, including diarrhea and vomiting. The pupils have been transferred to emergency at the city hospital, with the help of citizens, to endure medical treatment.  

An important security force has been urged to the hospital to anticipate any undesirable reaction from the upset family members of the pupils who rushed massively to the spot.

Prefect of Bourdj Bou Areridj province told reporters after inspecting the pupils in the hospital that he has contacted the two ministries of Interior and National Education to take required measures, adding that his services are mobilized to take care of this crisis. 

He further pointed out that for the moment 110 pupils have been victim to the food poisoning, without specifying however whether an investigation has been opened on the issue.
