165 poor municipalities in Algeria

the Ministery of Interior’s report revealed that the number of poor Algerian municipalities is 165 out of 1541 at the national level.

• The same report stated that although the actions taken by the public authorities during the preparation of  another report in 2006, did not contribute in reducing then size of suffering and underdevelopment which the municipalities experienced.
• These poor municipalities suffer a big underdevelopment in the areas of economic development, as their population is qualified as “very poor”, that is, they suffer from Extreme poverty which reached in 16 Algerian provinces more than 350.000 poors, and that 46 municipalities in 17 provinces are “poorer”, and 60% of Algerians do not benefit from water cannals.
• In the same framework, the report indicated that the poverty rates in Algeria reached 7% since 1999, date of thr development programmes beginning, where the government directed 50 billion $, to create jobs to absorb unemployment, and open potable water cannals and enter electricity in hundreds of poor regions, and other projects.
