1665 foreign companies to grant 30% of their capital to the Algerians
The number of companies in the field of import and export in Algeria reaches 25.548 in 2008, including 1665 foreign companies from Syria, France, China, Turkey and Lebanon, the National Center for the Commercial Registration reveals.

The foreign companies are willing to grant the share of 30% from their capitals to Algerian partners before the end of next September, after instruction by the PM 22nd December 2008.

The center of commerce registers confirmed, according to the APS, that 90% of these companies are active in the field of import and 10199 (40%) are based in Algiers then Oran, west of Algeria, with 2341 companies (9.16%), Setif, east of Algeria, is third with 1876 companies (34.7%), Constantine, capital of eastern Algeria, is fourth with 1711 import companies, Oum El Bouaki, east, with 1213 import and export companies, Blida, center, with 1025 companies, and finally Batna, east of Algeria, with 517 companies.

There are also foreign companies working in the field of import and belonging to 52 countries, according to the nationalities of their managers. The Syrian companies are on top of the list with 16.6%, the equivalent of 261 import companies, followed by the French companies with 14.5% (242 companies), then the Chinese with 13.2% (242 companies) which flooded the Algerian market with their poor local products, using the weakness of control and customs who do not respect the law.

The Turkish companies are among the first in the import, their number reaches 128 companies, then the Tunisian companies with 121 and Lebanese with 99 import companies.

1252 foreign companies, 75% of the total foreign import companies in Algiers, 98 in Oran, 51 in Annaba, Blida and Boumerdes with 31, Setif 25, and Tipaza 21 companies.
