18 percent of Algerian workers non-declared: Employment Minister
Algerian Employment and Social Security Minister Tayeb Louh said the number of employees non-declared at social security department in Algeria reached 18 percent in 2007.

- The minister who said Algeria is now one of the biggest countries where workers’ rights are not respected did not give exact figures on the total number of non-declared employees. Yet, he mentioned that the 18.6 percent work in 9,810 enterprises on the basis of inspection visits paid in 2007.

According to Tayeb Louh, the number of declared foreign workers in Algeria went up to 23,000 in 2007, equivalent to 7 percent of total number of employees.

Chinese manpower is ranked first with 19,000, equivalent to 30 percent compared to local manpower.
