2010 World Cup and Africa Cup draw: Algeria with Rwanda, Egypt, Zambia in Group C

Algeria Wednesday was drawn against Egypt, Rwanda and Zambia in Group C in the final qualifying round for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

• Challenge sounds easy for the Algerian “Greens” as the Pharaohs would be the biggest obstacle for them compared to Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
• Previously, Algerian national coach Rabeh Saadane told reporters he hoped that the draw would come up with Algeria and Egypt in the same group.
• The Atlas Lions of Morocco were drawn against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon along with Togo and Ghabon in Group A. Tunisia faces Kenya and Mozambique in Group B.
• The Black Stars of Ghana were drawn with Benin, Mali and Sudan in Group D. Burkina Faso, Guinea and Malawi will face the Ivory Coast ‘Elephants’ in Group E.
• Egyptian coach Hassan Shehata said he would prefer to dodge Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia.
• “I’m always wary of North African opponents because the rivalry between us is incredible. Being the better team does not always mean you win such games,” he said.
