2010 World Cup qualifications: Algeria must win two matches

Senegalese football team is now on the top of Group 6 in the 2010 joint qualification series leading to the 2010 FIFA World Cup and African Cup of Nations (CAN) after hitting Liberia 3-1 Saturday. On the other hand, Algeria which has 6 points has no other choice than winning two matches to ensure official qualification.

The first match will be against Senegal in September in Blida province (70 km west of Algiers) and the second one will be played in Liberia in October.

For his part, national coach Rabeh Saadane said qualification is possible especially with his good team. Following victory over Gambia, he received a call from German coach of Liberian team to congratulate him for that good win.

According to a source from the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), a meeting is due to be held soon to discuss the situation of player Nadir Belhaj who did not say why he was absent in the match vs Gambia.
