Algerian football players.

Senegalese football team is now on the top of Group 6 in the 2010 joint qualification series leading to the 2010 FIFA World Cup and African Cup of Nations (CAN) after hitting Liberia 3-1 Saturday. On the other hand, Algeria which has 6 points has no other choice than winning two matches to ensure official qualification.

  • The first match will be against Senegal in September in Blida province (70 km west of Algiers) and the second one will be played in Liberia in October.
  • For his part, national coach Rabeh Saadane said qualification is possible especially with his good team. Following victory over Gambia, he received a call from German coach of Liberian team to congratulate him for that good win.
  • According to a source from the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), a meeting is due to be held soon to discuss the situation of player Nadir Belhaj who did not say why he was absent in the match vs Gambia.
