French authorities detain 2018 Algerians in administrative prisons, according to 2012 statistics and a report that was prepared by Five Non-governmental Human Rights Organizations.

The report shows that the number of prisoners of various nationals, according to the official report of the Interior Ministry, raised by 12%, and the organizations that uncovered the report said that something is wrong about the policy in the detention, which is done under difficult circumstances.

Same report also shows that the law of 16 June 2011, recorded a decline in the judicial oversight and the individual’s liberties, and its results are clear in the cases of detentions that were recorded in 2012, as the total detainees reached 60% of those who have been deported before being brought before a judge.

European Court of Human Rights condemned the French authorities on three consecutive occasions before 2012, because the French authorities did not respect the conditions of detention, and the five international human rights organizations, which agree on one voice, called for the need to ensure the fundamental freedoms of individuals in detention, with the right to control by the judge in the first days of arrest with reducing the duration of the detention.
