222 illegal immigrants arrested south of Algeria

Algerian National Gendarmerie arrested 222 illegal immigrants Friday and Saturday. in Djanet and Debdeb regions, south of Algeria at the borders with Libya, said the national gendarmerie.

  • 175 illegal immigrants were arrested by border guards of Djanet locality, south of Algeria, in “Ain Aflahlah” region, 60 km south west djanet.
  • Illegal immigrants, including minors from African nationalities, most of them  from Nigeria, Mali, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, and Ghana were brought before the prosecutor who ordered extradition  to their countries through Tamenrasset locality, south of Algeria
  • Regional gendarmerie of Edebdeb region, 440 km north of Illizi locality, arrested 47 illegal immigrants for trying to cross the Algerian borders with Libya in order to enter the Algerian territories, including 19 Nigerians and the rest from central Africa countries. They will stand before justice in Illizi.
  • Security authorities in charge of the fight against illegal immigration arrested more than 1035 illegal immigrants during November and December 2008 in Illizi, Ain Aminas, Djanet and Eddebdeb regions, southern Algeria.
