2,620 foreigners get Algerian nationality and 7,000 waiting for response

Algeria's Justice Department recorded a significant increase on Algerian nationality’ requests by foreigners, since the nationality law amendment in 2005, as the number of applications placed on the minister of justice’ office so far about 70,000 requests. Of them, 1,000 are married with Algerian women while the number of foreigners who have obtained on Algerian nationality since 2000 is 2,620.

• Well-informed sources told Echorouk that the number of foreigners wishing to get Algerian citizenship is rising and doubled in recent years. This rise has been remarkable since 2000 when Algeria became a concern as a country of life and stability with economic openness.
• According to confirmed information, Algeria has become in recent years attractive to a number of foreigners seeking employment and investment. It has reached 105 nationalities including those living in Algeria permanently or temporarily and who came from: Lebanon, Egypt, Syria, Korea, China, Indonesia, Morocco, Tunisia and Libya, in addition to some European countries and other Africans.
